The Solution

Getting Started
I found that when looking for inspiration pictures of dino rooms, they did not exactly fit the vision I was creating in my head. The first thing I decided to do was look for a few pieces that fit the look I was going for, and that's when I discovered the hamper and bedding from the same line of childrens room decor and thought they were perfect! While incorporating the bedding and hamper into the design I had envisioned, I also discovered a few pieces of wall art, a dino plush and 12 X 12 in toy baskets that fit the color scheme perfectly.

Rug
As soon as I saw all these elements together, I knew I needed to find a rug that could tie the colors in the room together without being overwhelming with color, and still had the same style as the rest of the room. This led me to a lighter blue colored rug. The blue colors complemented the other pieces very well, and this particular rug had foot prints of various dinos that brought in the playful nature in which Ayomide could use while he was playing.

Toy Storage
Since this is a little boy’s room, Ayomide would have lots of toys to store. I prioritized storage and functionality first and then looked at how these bins could be stored. Because all his toys needed to be readily accessible, I picked out a simple storage solution that a child can reach into a bin, pull out some toys and be able to put them back without help. To match the dark brown bed I made the toy storage dark brown as well.

Play Space
However, an additional problem arose when designing for his toys which was play space. Knowing that this space was going to be used very frequently, my solution to the problem was to get a dark brown toy table that he could pull his toys out to play with, and then put them back away when he's done.

Final Touches
Once I was done deciding on the elements to add for practicality, I shifted my focus to some bright and fun items, which led me to finding the dino ottoman and neon sign which I believe really pulled everything together.
Result
Denise Loved the design for her son. Ayomide was excited to have a new big boy room!
